I appreciated that EA added a hot tub that only required base game instead of a pack, as its Sims 20th Anniversary freebie, but really don't like the big clunky roof and pillars. So I made an edit of it to remove all that stuff. Now we can have a normal-looking base game hot tub without needing a stuff pack. (This is in addition to the original, not an override, so if you want the one with the roof you can have both.)
I made four neutral-style recolours in black, white and silver, chocolate and caramel, and shabby-chic beige with tan wood; and four colourful patterned textures in floral, pink, funky kids' pool style blue, and blue boomerangs with tan wood. (If you would like to make your own recolours, the white & silver one makes a useful base.)
It's found in the Outdoor Activities section in Build/Buy Mode and costs 1200 simoleons.
Below: Comparison of mine with the original, and note that the Design Tool box appears high above mine at the height of the original's roof - I don't know how to lower its position, so just be aware in case you try to use the design tool and think it's not there - just zoom up a bit! I was able to get the geostates to work, in which the tub can be upgraded to add aromatherapy oil jets and a stereo speaker, but for some reason the decals that should appear on the corner of the tub to individually show the addition of the aromatherapy and the speaker, don't appear unless you make both upgrades - then they will both appear. (As seen in the video below.)
The below short video clip shows the aromatherapy jets and the stereo in use:
Thanks for looking, hope you'll find this a useful alternative if you don't like that big roof canopy thing!
