UPDATE AUGUST 2023: An update to The Sims 4 broke all vehicles cloned from the University bicycle. I remade this vehicle as a basegame version, cloned from a bicycle that was a pre-order gift for Cottage Living. I am not sure if you need to have Cottage Living in order for the taxi to work, but the bicycle is shown as a basegame item in the game's files, not a Cottage Living item. So please try the new version whether or not you have Cottage Living, and see if it works for you.
With the addition of bicycles by the current EP, Discover University, I decided to try cloning the bicycle to make a motorcycle (available on Mod The Sims www.modthesims.info/d/635798/rideable-motorcycle-the-beast-modification.html ), and then see if it was possible to make driveable cars too. Unfortunately making a properly-working car from the bicycle object is very difficult and not without notable issues. Getting the sim into a car-driving position by editing its rig causes a load of body distortion while getting in and out, and I didn't find that acceptable enough, so I abandoned the idea. It may be possible if someone can make their own animations, but that's not something I have expertise in.
Of the cars I had an attempt at, this one came out with the least distortion, so here you go if you might find it worth a try. It's strictly for giggles!
The Ratmobile Rat Taxi is a variation of my silly car for The Sims 2 and 3, The Bathroomobile, but this time with added rats who do the driving and navigation while you sit back and relax in the complimentary wooden patio chair. The rats were added and positioned by my buddy Rafael, so this was a joint effort! "Why walk when you can ride?" as they said in Morrowind, and "Why walk when you can fly?" as they said in Fallout 4. And now, why walk when you can be comfortably driven to your destination by giant rats?
The Ratmobile comes in six recolour variations: White, Pink, Avocado, Shabby Chic, Hippie, and Steampunk.
To use it, click on it and choose one of the Bike options (it will still be referred to as a 'bike' in the menus), for example Ride Bike Around. It will behave like a bike, such as sitting parked on a slant like a bike, and the sim will still do the kickstand animations. The sim will get in and sit on the chair, and one rat will 'drive' while the other 'navigates'. Here's a look at the new remade version in-game so you can see how it functions:
ISSUES:
1) As mentioned, when the sim gets in and out of the car the sim's body will momentarily distort.
2) Their hands, which I rigged to hold onto the sides of the bathtub, don't always stay in place while riding. I tried to get it the best I could.
3) Although I adjusted the footprint to fit the car, it still clips through everything and everybody it passes as if it was still a bike. I didn't want to adjust the bounding box in case that caused route failure.
Installation:
Extract the package from the zip file and put it in your Mods folder.
Thanks for looking, hope you'll find this just a bit of silly fun.
